Handball

 

Handball is a ball game developed by combining the characteristics of basketball and football and playing with the hand and scoring with the ball into the opponent’s goal.
Handball originated in Denmark and became an official sport at the XI Olympic Games in 1936 before being interrupted by the war. In 1938, the first World Men’s Handball Championship was held in Germany. On July 13, 1957, the first World Women’s Handball Championship was held in Yugoslavia. At the 20th Olympic Games in 1972, handball was once again included in the Olympic Games. In 1982, the 9th New Delhi Games included handball as an official sport for the first time.

Handball is short for the sport of handball or the game of handball; Also refers to the ball used in handball, but here it represents the former. A standard handball match consists of seven players from each team, including six regular players and one goalkeeper, playing against each other on a 40-meter-long and 20-meter-wide court. The goal of the game is to try to get the handball into the opponent’s goal, each goal scored 1 point, and when the game is over, the team with the most points represents the winner.

Handball matches require official approval by the International Handball Federation and a recognition mark. The IWF logo is colorful, 3.5 cm high and OFFICIALBALL. The lettering is in Latin alphabet and the font is 1 cm high.
Olympic men’s handball adopts No. 3 ball, with a circumference of 58~60 cm and a weight of 425~475 grams; Women’s handball adopts No. 2 ball, with a circumference of 54~56 cm and a weight of 325~400 grams.
